Abstract

|
Vascular tumors of the colon are comparatively rare and are uncommonly seen in childhood. They are almost universally benign in their cellular structure but are dangerous because they may produce gastrointestinal bleeding or obstruction of the intestinal lumen.
In the literature of the other countries they has been reported about 400 cases but none was found in this country.
We had a case of the hemangioma of the Sigmoid colon, who underwent the segmental resection of the colon in September, 1970. The patient was admitted because of the intermittent massive rectal bleeding for 2 years. We suspected preoperatively that ;the patient ´,had a bleeding polyp of the Sigmoid colon but it was found during the operation, that the patient had a cavernous heman gioma of the Sigmoid colon, complicated with bleeding.
The postoperative course was uneventful. The literature was reviewed in clinical and pathological aspects.
